We all know the numbers don’t lie, right? Marketers live and breathe data, so here’s more than 1.56 billion reasons why we have to be certain our websites are responsive and display properly on mobile phones – because in 2018 alone, there were about 1.56 billion smartphone sales globally.
In other words, according to Statista, about 20% of the world’s 7.7 billion population upgraded to a new smartphone. This is important because, as Statista also reported during 2018, 52.2% of all website traffic globally was mobile phone generated.
The number that bought a smartphone during 2018 are just part of the 2.71 billion smartphone global users in 2019 (Source: Statista). It’s true, almost one in three people worldwide own a smartphone.
